Other Price 312 CUSTOM CUSTOMER FIELDS INTERFACE This interface module will display and retrieve customer entered information relative to customer accounts on the account create, account edit, and order customer information screens. Interface with built-in custom customer fields: The built in custom customer fields module from MIVA Corp establishes the databases and provides an admin side interface for the store owner to enter custom customer data. This module provides the merchant public side for the customer to enter data into those custom fields. Easy token implementation: Easily place tokens on the customer information collection screens using the standard MM5 template script. You can use the common "foreach" loop to display all of them together or you can break each field out for display in various parts of the screen. For example, you may want to collect a second address line just below the first address line and then later in the screen collect the company rep the customer deals with. You can change values in the fields with the account edit selection on the nav bar. Flat file export: When a new customer account is created, all of the standard field values except the pgrpcount and password are saved to a flat file log. In addition to the standard fields, values entered into the custom fields are also saved to the flat file. Additionally, date and time fields are exported so you can determine exactly when a new customer account was created. The flat file is | delimited and can be FTPd to your PC with your FTP software and then imported into other programs. You can periodically delete the flat file and it will be recreated with the next new customer account creation. Search new customer log: You can search the flat file log created when new customers sign-up. You can search on keyword, single date, and/or date range. The standard and custom fields will be displayed. The log display includes a link to the actual customer records so you can edit and make changes if needed. Interface with email modules: The custom field values can be displayed in the merchant and customer notification emails if you are using our Mail Manager module (sold separately) to generate them. Limitations: Custom customer fields are used for customer records. If the customer does not create or have an existing account, there is no place to save or use the information. Hence, on the 'OCST' checkout screen, it is best to wrap the custom customer field inputs within a conditional check for customer ID. <mvt:if expr="basket:cust_id GT 0"> ....custom field input.... </mvt:if> There is no validation to ensure the custom fields are filled in. Therefore, they are all optional. If you want to display the custom customer fields in the notification emails, you will need to use an email module capable of using custom field tokens. The inputs will disable html and SQL injection hacks. It is expected customers will be entering text or checkbox entries. While textarea inputs can be used, internal actions will be taken to reduce hacker attempts. So if you need custom fields that will accept html, this module is not for you. Normally, if a customer is not logged in when they place items in the basket, the basket price will be a non-price group price, even after they log in at check out. Features: - Automatically recalculate basket prices when logging in - Exclude specific product codes from the recalculation - Safety check price change to ensure it does not raise it - Token available to force recalculation in addition to the automatic log in recalculation (Merchant 5.x only) Feature Details. Automatically recalculate. When the customer logs in, the module will determine the price group status of the customer. If they are in a price group, it will recalculate the prices in the basket to reflect the price group prices of the items. Product exclusion. In some cases, you may not want to recalculate the basket price for specific products. As example, there are 3rd party modules which adjust the basket price based on other factors set by those modules. The External Product Purchase, Size Pricing, Dimension Pricing, Override Pricing modules allow the customer to enter values in the products' attributes which ultimately effect the basket prices of the products. This product exclusion feature lets you exclude those products from the recalculation process. The basket price will remain as it was calculated by the 3rd party module that originally controlled the addition of the product into the basket. Safety check. The module will verify that the price group recalculation will actually lower the price. Some 3rd party modules discount item prices at the time they are added to the basket, based on a variety of factors. An example of this is Volume Pricing. If the customer orders in quantity and you have set the threshold so they will get a price break for multiples of the item, the item will be added to the basket at a price lower than its individual item price. In some cases, that value could even be lower than price group prices. The recalculation module will compare the two prices and use the lower of the two for the basket price. Additional token. The additional token feature is in the Merchant 5.x version of the module only. This module will make the recalculation at the time the customer logs in. In some cases, you might want to force the process again. For example, our Customer and Product Administration module has an automatic price group promotion feature. If you set that to occur when they log in, it actually happens when the screen displays at the point you place the token to do that. As the recalculation module does its automatic feature before the screen displays, the customer would not get the full advantage of a promotion to a new price group. Hence, if you are using a price group promotion feature in another 3rd party module, you can follow that process with a forced basket price group recalculation. The store owner can choose any fields within the products database and/or the custom product fields (Miva Corp built-in utility module) database to be searchable. Easily editable templates. The module has five templates which can be used for each section of the search page. The templates have full version history and use standard Merchant 5 template coding for easy update and rollback of changes. Each template is pulled into the location you want it on the search page using a render token. The templates are field selection, category selection, search scope/type, page counter and links, and product list layout. Search specific fields and sort results. Allow a customer to search one or more fields which are made selectable by the store owner. The store owner can choose, in the admin screen, any fields within the products database or the MIVA Merchant built in custom product fields database to be available. The Power Search module uses a mirror database of your products, custom fields and categories; much like the big search engines use. By creating a mirror before the search is made, many operations to join multiple databases together can be avoided, so the customer gets a much faster search. Customers can also sort the results on fields like name, code, price, cost, when they were added to the store, or the default display order the store owner established for product lists. The build of the mirror database goes quite quickly and is a maintenance procedure you will do periodically. The small amount of time you take to build the mirror will save your customers significant amounts of time in their searches vs searches which don't use an optimized mirror database. Building the mirror is not required just because products are added, deleted, or edited; as those processes update the mirror automatically without needing a rebuild. See the install doc for details. Category selectable. Customers can use the category selector to select just one category to search. The default is to search the whole store. You can use the built in token which lists all categories with one or more products in them or you can build your own select list of only certain categories. Multiple search types. The customer can select how they want to search the database. The default is to search for products where all (boolean AND) of the keywords entered are found in the record. The customer can broaden that search so that any (boolean OR) of the words are found in the record. They can search by exact phrase so that the words must appear in the same order in the record as was entered in the search input. They can also search the fields where the data in the field begins with the search string. This is useful for things like finding all of the products whose NAME begins with a specific letter and allows you to have a list of A-Z links that implement that specific search. Advanced pagination. The module can display the total number of products found which match the search condition. Additionally, the pages are numbered, e.g. Page 3 of 20, when results exceed the configurable number of products per page. You can also display a list of page numbers and links to those pages so the customer can jump to the page they want to look at. This pagination is similar to that used in our Category Manager module. Product layout template can be customized. In the 'srch' page template, there is a "search results layout". If you are happy with that layout, you can copy and paste the contents of that template into the Power Search module's product layout template. You can then modify the layout in the Power Search admin screen. Price range searching. While searching the price field might be useful in some cases, a more popular search is price range. Within the searchable fields section, the customer has the option of entering a low and high price to create a range. If left blank, the search will not be filtered by price range. Category field search. Customers can also search the category name, code, headers and footers for the search word(s). Tell a friend module interface. If the store is using the Emporium Plus Tell A Friend module, customers can send the search string from Power Search to friends. The link in the email will go to the same page of products that the customer was on when they clicked the Tell A Friend button. Return to search page link. After going to the product page from a Power Search rendered search, a convenient "return to search" link on the product page can bring the customer back to the original search page. Search log with admin report. In admin, you can view the log of search words/phrases which your customers have used. This helps you from a marketing standpoint to determine the most sought after products and possibly the need to carry a new product. Additionally, it helps you identify keywords which might be useful to include in the narrative descriptions or the meta tags for search engine submissions and even local searches in your store. As example, while you might have a product called flip flops, customers might be searching for thong sandals (which is the same thing). But if you had not used those words in your description, you may have lost the sale. The log can be purged in the admin screen to reduce its size as desired. Optimized search of built-in custom product fields. This module does not require that you use a proprietary 3rd party module for the custom product fields. It uses the built-in custom product fields module from MIVA Corp, thereby ensuring compatibility with other 3rd party modules which use those same custom product fields. No need to go down that proprietary datafield path of no return. As example, the Template Data Feed module can use the built-in custom product fields to populate feeds to just about any search engine and shopping index with those "special" fields those indexes require. Live examples. Check out the selected field search in our MIVA Merchant 5.x test store. We have about 600 products in that store with multiple custom product fields. Try some searches at Pin Emporium so you can get an idea of search speed. Pre-defined selectors. The Power Search function can also be used for pre-defined select pulldowns in your store. As an example, the genre and decade searches in the lower left column of the Pin Emporium storefront screen will search a specific field, with store owner pre-defined selections. This same technique can be used for things like manufacturer searches if you have a manufacturer field in your custom product fields. Liberal licensing. License is for ONE domain/mall. Within that single mall, it can be used in multiple stores without additional licenses. For Merchant 5.x, but 4.x is available. This version of the module is for Merchant 5.x only. If you are looking for the Power Search for MIVA Merchant 4.x and older, it is still available. This module requires that you are using MIVA Engine v5.04 or newer. While basic knowledge of how to edit MIVA Merchant 5 templates is required, there are two example templates provided in addition to the built in ctgy page template. Getting started is not that difficult. Include typical render tokens on the custom category pages from other 3rd party modules (sold separately) which you have in your store, e.g. rate this, wait list, best seller, and others. Easy assignment of categories to templates. Once you create the template you can assign one or more categories to it. This can be done from the Category Edit screen or if you are using our Category Import module ( sold separately), you can import the template assignment right along with importing new categories into the store. No need to import the categories with one module and then use a separate module to assign them to templates. Default page for unassigned categories. The default ctgy page template is used for all categories which have not been assigned to a specific custom template. This makes processing more efficient as the Category Manager runs a quick lookup to determine if it needs to run certain more complex processing routines, like advanced pagination. Advanced page navigation. Several pagination variables are available to write detailed page navigation links. You can have the typical 1 2 3 4 etc. Or you can break up long lines with arrows, dots, dashes, etc to fill in a gap. You can also display the page number of the total number of pages. This pagination is similar to that used in our Power Search module for Merchant 5. As a point of reference for the customer, you can even include how many products are listed in the category. Flexible pagination. Each category template can have a different setting for the number of products to display on a page. Initially, the customer will see the number you set. However, customers using broadband may want to see all the product in a category on a single page, so there is an option to list all. On-the-fly sorting. The products are initially displayed in the sort order which the store owner has previously setup in the normal admin sorting. The customer can then change the sort order based on their desires. Available sort fields are name, code, price, date items were added to the store, or the default store setup. They can be sorted ascending or descending. Breadcrunb navigation. The module includes optional breadcrumb navigation. An array is created which holds the current category name and its parents up to the top level category. With standard MIVA Merchant template code, you can create a quick link to higher categories like Home Software Developer Bundles Sub-category navigation. You can display the sub-categories of a parent category on the category page, e.g. below the parent category's name. The array can be displayed like you want it using standard MIVA Merchant template code. You can view a couple of the example templates, e.g. single column or three column display. These pages demonstrate the variable layout of products, breadcrumb navigation, and on-the-fly sorting. Sub-category navigation can be seen at a parent category. MIVA Merchant 5 out-of-the-box does not currently provide template access to the category tree links. I suspect they probably will open it up some time in the future. Until then, this module gives you that access. The tree template uses the standard store morph technology template editor in MIVA Merchant 5. While basic knowledge of how to edit MIVA Merchant 5 templates is required, the module comes with the default template that looks like the original tree. There is an additional example which replaces the category tree links with directory style links. Getting started is not that difficult. Category Tree Access: The category tree template can be edited from the store edit screen at the tab "My Category Tree" or from any of the page template screens. The template is global and as such, you only need to make changes in one location. Those changes will be reflected in all of the screens you have added this template item to. If you have .htaccess re-write capability on your domain, you can even create directory style links. Subcategory Navigation: You can list the subcategories of a parent category on the right (main) side of the screen, e.g. right under the parent category title/name. You can create multiple columns, thereby taking up less screen real estate when you have categories with large numbers of subcategories. Category Breadcrumb Navigation: On the category screen you can display the current category and the heirarchy of its parent categories up to the store root level. The responses are exported to a delimited text file which can be imported into most database management systems for further analysis. You can also have those responses appear in the MIVA Merchant Email notification and batch processing. If you are using the OpenUI, the responses can also be viewed in OpenOrders individual order screen. Use the module for the customer to add special instructions for the order, collect responses from survey or poll questions, allow the customer to fill out gift card messages, include salesman or representative code, etc. The admin interface allows you to build the form with your store's questions using standard html syntax. Hence, you can make the response collection table match the rest of your store's look and feel. You can have text, radio, select drop down list, text area, and checkbox inputs designed the way you want them. Add css if you like or use typical fonts and table tags. You can place the questions on one of the three checkout screens. This module is compatible with the MMUI and OpenUI. When using the OpenUI, simply select the screen from admin. When using the MMUI, editing the mmui.mv file will accomplish the same thing. Note that if you are using compiled Merchant (4.14 and newer), you must also recompile the mmui.mv after editing so you would need the compiler license from MIVA. Thus, for compiled Merchant, the OpenUI is required unless you have the mivascript compiler. You can also specify one or more of the questions to be required. Customers will not be able to complete the checkout if they do not respond to the required questions. You can purge old questions from the active file and place them in a historical file in order to improve response time during order batch processing retrieval. The optional order batch retrieval requires editing the core batch report unless you are using the OpenUI batch report, which has hook points for the addendum module data. In the compiled version you can limit the display of Addendum questions based on specific product codes. If you list product codes in the admin input, the questions will only be displayed if one of those products is in the basket at checkout. You can also use the wild card product code like 1AA*. If the applicable products all begin with the same characters, you can use the asterisk. This can only be used for the beginning characters in the product codes. You can also limit the display of questions to specific ship to countries. You can optionally include the questions in the emails along with the responses. When including questions and responses in OpenUI or Mail Manager emails, you can use the module's tokens to hide one or more of the responses which you don't want included in insecure emails. If using our Mail Manager module you can have a question (checkbox) which will trigger a specific email, e.g. opt-in mailing list signup. If using the OpenUI in Merchant 4.x, you can select in admin whether to insert the response in the merchant notification or customer confirmation emails or both. In Merchant 5.x we have included modified merchant and customer notification emails which include all of the addendum responses. Those 5.x emails also have tokens for the subject to let you add things like order ID and buyer's name. You can also include the questions and responses on the invoice (last page after payment completes). The responses for the batch report are retrieved from an indexed database for faster access. Optionally you can have a page break after each order in the OpenUI batch report. You can also attach a fee to a specific answer to one question if you place the questions on either the customer information or shipping/payment selection screens. The Addendum View report feature allows you to search (within admin) the addendum.dat file for specific responses. For example, you might have a question for a specific requested shipping date. Simply search the file for orders which have requested the delayed shipping for that date. The order numbers can be returned and fed into the EZ Batch report (sold separately) for a tailored report for a specific shipping date. Another popular use of Addendum is to collect the salesman or representative code with an order. Not only can you display the code in the batch report, but if you use Addendum View to create a list of orders attributed to that salesman, you can make a batch printout for each salesman with only their orders on it if you are using our EZ Batch Report. You can also include the Addendum responses in the order export file that EZ Batch creates. The compiled version of this module can use OpenTokens instead of hook points within OpenObjects. The OpenDesigner screen lists the OpenObjects which can replace all or some screens within the OpenUI user interface. The OpenObjects provide a template screen which contains the existing hook points (backward compatibility), OpenToken capability, and the ability to move output around within the OpenObject screen. Limitation: When used in a store which uses PayFlow link, PayPal or iTransact payment systems, you will need to place your questions on either the customer information screen or the shipping and payment selection screen. Those payment systems transport the customer to another domain. Hence, the module needs to save the responses to a file before the customer is transported off-site. When the customer returns from the off-site payment screens back to your store, the responses will be retrieved for saving to flat file or display in your merchant notification email. Compare this module with our competitors' pro or advanced or ultimate versions. Those are just words tacked onto a module name. Don't let our low price fool you - compare features and you will find this module probably contains all of the features found in theirs plus we have several additional features. The Addendum module has been in use since Merchant version 1.x and continually enhanced with each version. The module has no way of knowing if their ID is valid or if their purchase qualifies under your state's guidelines. It is up to you to verify whether the customer was untruthful in their submission. New in the compiled version is the ability to hide the tax ID input to all customers unless they are either 1) in a specified availability group, or 2) their customer login is included in a admin entered eligibility list. You can save the customers' login IDs and tax IDs so when they checkout, the number will already be entered in the input. The prompt for entry of the tax ID during checkout is configurable as a template. It can also be hidden and the tax exemption automatically assigned for members of the specified availability group. This module works with both the MMUI and OUI look and feel user interfaces. MMUI requires editing (and recompiling if Merchant 4.14 or newer). Disclaimer: The authors, programmers or distributors of this module will not be held liable for uncollected tax or failure of this module to perform without failure. The store owner is solely responsible for verifying the credibility of a customer's claim for tax exemption. Limitation: The module will zero out all tax. It goes a step further by breaking down the best seller information by category. Your customers will not see exact numbers sold, only relative ranking. As they see the best sellers listed, the display provides them with a convenient link to the individual products so that they too can see what all the excitement is about. You can reset the statistics through the existing admin statistics interface so that your best sellers can be kept current as product inventory changes. Through admin, the store owner can customize the look of the display box. You can choose which screens (SFNT, CTGY, PROD, PLST, SRCH) the display box will appear on. You can also choose which of four locations on each of those screens the box will appear. You can specify the number of best sellers that will display in the box, e.g. top five. The CTGY screen is slightly different from the other screen displays, as it shows the best seller in the category that the customer is viewing at the time. You have the option of excluding specified category screens that you do not want to display the best sellers. You can also vary the color, size and fonts used in the display box. You can even specify that the module will obey the availability group settings. This will limit your display if your best sellers are only available to certain customers and those customers have not logged in first. The upside is that it does not show product info for products that are not available to all customers. If you choose to allow all customers to view all products in the best seller list, the module will ensure that only eligible customers can link to the products. Some of the admin configuration options are shown in the screen shots below. This module is for Merchant 4.x - 5.x and is compatible with both the MMUI and OpenUI. If using the OpenUI, the screen locations are controlled through admin; no editing required. If using the MMUI, the location of the display is practically unlimited, but editing the mmui.mv is required. New in the compiled version is the ability to exclude specific products from the display. This is useful if you have products that are special sellers, e.g. upsell products. The new horizontal layout optionally allows you to include the thumbnail and price of each best seller item. You can set the height and width for your images, hence you should try to keep all of your thumbnails at about the same aspect ratio. You can vary the layout at each of the screen type so that some can be vertical while others are horizontal or no display at all. In MIVA Merchant admin, the store owner sets the number of items it requires in order for the lowest priced item to be free. For every increment of that number, an item's value reduces the total sale. For example, if the number is 5 and the customer buys 5, the lowest priced item is free. If the customer buys 10, the lowest two items are free. The module also reduces the sales tax burden automatically, as less money will be collected. It determines if the free items were taxable before it reduces the tax. When the customer views their basket, the free item discount appears as a separate line item. If they view the basket prior to reaching the trigger level by one, there is a message telling the customer to add one more and the lowest priced item will be free. In the compiled version you can change the percentage discount from 100% (free) to a lesser discount of the lowest priced items. You also can change the message in the basket from the admin configuration panel. You can specify a list of products which are not figured in the quantity calculation nor are they eligible for the discounting. The compiled version of this module can use OpenTokens instead of hook points within OpenObjects. The OpenDesigner screen lists the OpenObjects which can replace all or some screens within the OpenUI user interface. The OpenObjects provide a template screen which contains the existing hook points (backward compatibility), OpenToken capability, and the ability to move output around within the OpenObject screen. This price variable combines the product's basket base price with its attribute prices so that you can show the sum total for the product and hide the individual attribute prices in the basket. Fill in the attributes, including checking the box for EZ Batch report, then add it to the basket. The EZ Batch adds to the base product price. It does not update the page layout settings. The flat file is in the format: 1AA|20|yes|graphics/soft.gif|~|Software for the 3rd millennium|Copyright 2001 1S|10|no|~|~||All items insured When you want to delete what is already in the field, use the ~ character. This will signal the module to "clear out" the contents of that particular field. If you do not want to change the contents of the field, just leave the field empty, but still put in the | delimiter. Any data that is in the flat file, will replace what was in the particular field. As example above: 1) Category 1AA will be set to 20 products per page, category title will display, establish tree image path, remove any reference to a title image path, header and footer are to be included as shown. 2) Category 1S will be set to 10 products per page, category title field will be set to no, remove any reference to a tree image and title image path, no change will be made to header (even if it exists already), establish footer as shown. You must not have line feeds or carriage returns embedded in the header or footer fields. These would cause the line to break and the software would be fooled into thinking that a new record was being started.
