Compiled stub file to execute compiled MIVA Merchant 4.14
or newer with short URLs (single parameter). This file
allows you to use shorter URLs in your emails to link
prospective customers to your store's pages. Also, many
search engines only follow links for the first couple
parameters after the ? in the URL. For example, in the
past some search indexes balked at the word Store_Code in
the URL. This shorter URL allows you to eliminate that
word, yet link customers to the proper store. This stub
file makes the majority of the pages in your store
accessible for search engine indexing. Included with
this file is a routine which will log each hit to a
flat file which can be analyzed using PC spreadsheets or
database managers. The file comes as store_wcw.mvc and
replaces the store4.mv which was our uncompiled version of
this file.
Setup:
Step 1 - Replace the wcw in the file name with your store code. If you have more than one store in the domain,
duplicate the store_wcw.mvc and replace the wcw in each file for each store.
Step 2 - Replace the store in the file name with whatever word you want. The only requirement is
that there is an _ character between the first part of the file name and the store code.
Step 3 -FTP the file to the root directory of your domain (one for each store). As example, the one
in my domain is mivamodule_wcw.mvc
Step 4 - Run the file with no parameters, eg http://www.emporiumplus.com/mivamodule_wcw.mvc
Step 5 - If your path to merchant.mvc is either Merchant2/merchant.mvc or merchant2/merchant.mvc,
you are ready to go. If not, you will need to create a flat file in your text editor called storedir.dat
which contains just the path to merchant.mvc, eg shop/merchant.mvc and FTP it to the root
data directory on your domain.
