| Flyer | | Flyers are typically about the size of letter paper and are often folded once to result in a four page piece. They were handed out to moviegoers to promote the next billing. The theater name and scheduled play dates are usually printed on them. This adds historical significance to the piece as often the listed theater of yesteryear has long since been demolished. Some contained articles about the stars and coming attractions. Some were simple, inexpensive copies while others contained photos and article layouts with a professional look. This practice was in place up to the late 50's. Although printed in large numbers originally, these items are very rare since they were usually crumpled up and thrown away. |

 FLY00001 SCARLET EMPRESS, THE 35.00
This fantastic movie flyer was printed to advertise coming attractions in October, 1934. This depression era piece contains the NRA (National Recovery Administration) logo, We Do Our Part. No doubt, this elaborately printed flyer contributed to the economy.
Featured in the flyer is Marlene Dietrich starring in The Scarlet Empress. Also featured are Janet Gaynor and Lew Ayres starring in Servants Entrance. In addition to the movie news articles, photos of the featured stars are included. As a bonus, this flyer contains photos of Miriam Hopkins, Walter Connolly, Ann Shirley, Frances Drake, Fay Wray, and a young Katherine Hepburn.
