The base plus weight module by ZIP code zone allows you to specify different shipping
rates based on the method of shipping AND the weight of items AND
the zip code in your country the item is being shipped to. This MIVA Merchant module evaluates the
"ship to" zip code and displays its methods and rates applicable to the
destination. This prevents customers from selecting its lower rates which may
not be available for them. Not compatible with the current google checkout module as that module does not use the customer's address to select the shipping methods available.
You have two options for inputing zip codes into zones, thus
allowing you to nearly duplicate common carrier tables. This
decreases your reliability on their sometimes fragile server
conditions.
- Option 1: In the Zone field, add the first three (3) numbers of each zip
code you want to include in the zone separated by a | delimiter, e.g.
334|335|336
- Option 2: In the Zone field, add the first three (3) numbers of zip code
ranges you want to include in the zone separated by a | delimiter, e.g.
334-336|362-369
You cannot mix options within a single zone, so you can
use either option 1 or 2 but not both. You are not limited
in the number of zip codes you include in each zone. You
are also not limited on the number of methods you can have
in this shipping module.

This module needs some work. It does not handle standard DHL shipping zones used by many alternative shippers. It is very useful for limited area delivery options such as a Pizza Delivery Chain with multiple stores in different cities to determine which store gets the order. Once it handles DHL shipping zones it will be a peach.
